During the data processing, you may need to modify a schema to accommodate changes to the data. The Schema Editor makes it easy to modify the schema.

To open the Schema Editor

  1. From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the process you want to work with and select Edit Process. The Configuration window opens.
  2. Click the Schema Editor tab. The Schema Editor displays.

The left pane displays the name of the input entity and its schema. Each input to the process is listed in a drop-down list. The right pane is how the output entity will look after the process is executed. Notice that the output entity takes its structure from the input entity. The attributes are automatically mapped by default. All output attributes are marked with green or blue arrows as follows:

    Arrow Description
The attributes with green arrows pointing right are the output attributes appended to data after processing. You can edit, delete, copy, and move the attributes.

The attributes with blue arrows pointing up are the copies of input attributes, or inherited attributes. The Inherited From column shows the process or entity name from which the attribute is copied. See Using Inherited Attributes.

The attributes with blue arrows pointing right are the Inherited attributes that have been modified by the process, usually by the Schema Editor or by declaring them part of the parser inputs. They cannot be ignored but they can be deleted, allowing the original inherited attribute back into the schema. This requires the Schema Editor to be reopened. The included attribute will then be visible and can be ignored if necessary.
The green arrows with red X marks are system-defined attributes that cannot be edited.
The blue up-arrows with red X marks are output attributes that have been ignored. These attributes will be removed from the output schema.
