After you create a project, you can add an input entity to the process and then exchange the input entity for another entity.
Note: When you add an output entity from a compressed project to an uncompressed project,
the data processing option in the target project will be automatically set to compressed
(Minimize Disk Space). Conversely, when you add an output entity from an uncompressed
project to a compressed project, the data processing option in the target project will
be automatically set to uncompressed (Maximize Performance). For more information about
using and modifying data processing options, see
Minimize Disk
Space and Maximize Performance.
To change an entity to a process
-
Create an entity that contains the data you want to use if you have not already done so.
-
In the Project View, right-click in empty space and select Add Entity. The Insert Entity into Project window opens.
-
Select one or more entities from the Entity selection box. Note the following guidelines:
- By default, entities that were created as the output of a Quality process are omitted from the list. If you prefer to include them, select the Include TSQ output Entities check box to list all entities.
- Use the Filter text box to filter the entities in the list. For example, if you are looking for the entities that were created in 2011, enter "2011" in the Filter text box. If you are looking for dynamic entities only, enter "dynamic" in the text box.
- When used for real-time processing, Name and Address projects can include only one input entity in the cleansing flow. Selecting multiple entities in a Name and Address project will display a message advising you that the project will not be suitable for real-time deployment. If the extra input entity will be an input to a Reference Matcher, and you will configure the project so the Reference Matcher will be the first process in your project, you can ignore this message.
- If you select a dynamic entity that has over 500 rows and has not been regenerated, by default, the first 500 data rows in the source are used to generate the associated flat file. This flat file can be regenerated with a lesser or greater number of rows byregenerating the input data.
- If the entity is output from a project that uses a different data processing option, the External Project Data Setting window opens alerting you that the current project's data processing option will change based on the entity. Click Yes to continue or No to select another entity.
-
Click OK. The new entity is displayed in the Project View.
-
Right-click the process for which you want to replace the input entity, for example the first Transformer process, and select Add new Inputs. The Add Input Process window opens.
-
Select the new entity.
-
Click OK. The new entity is added to the process.
-
Open the process for editing and select the Schema Editor tab.
-
In the Schema Editor, select the Regenerate Output Schema check box. The Regenerate Output Schema section becomes available.
-
In the Regenerate Output Schema section, select the new entity from the Using Input schema drop-down list.
-
Select Inherit schema and click Apply.
-
When the confirmation box opens, click OK. The output schema changes to match the new entity.
-
Click Finish.
-
Right-click the process and select Apply Schema Changes.
-
When the confirmation box opens, click OK.
-
After the schema change is completed, right-click the arrow from the old entity and select Remove this input, and then click OK. The process flow now only links to the new entity.
-
Right-click the unattached old entity and select Remove Entity from project.
Note: You can remove an entity from a project only when the entity has been removed
from all processes.
