TS Quality supports a wide range of functions specific to Asian character data. For example, you can transform Japanese hiragana characters to katakana characters and transform Simplified Chinese characters to their Traditional Chinese equivalent. See the list of Quality Functions for details of each function.

To transform Asian data in an attribute

  1. From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the Transformer process and select Edit Process. You can also double-click the process to open it for editing. The Transformer Configuration window displays.
  2. Do one of the following, depending on the type of attributes you want to set:
    • Click the Input Conditionals tab.
    • Click the Output Conditionals tab.

    The Input or Output Transformations window displays.

  3. Right-click in the Transformation window and select Add > New > Attribute Transformation. The Set Attribute window displays.
  4. Enter a description in the Description field.
  5. Select an attribute from the Set attribute drop-down list.
  6. Click the Build expression... button (). The Set Attribute to Expression window opens.
  7. Under Choose expression elements from the lists, click Functions.
  8. Select Quality and double-click the function. For example, if you want to convert the full-width characters to half-width, double-click CJKTOHALF.
  9. The expression with the parentheses such as CJKTOHALF() displays in the upper pane of the Expression Builder. See the list of Quality Functions for details of each function.
  10. In the upper pane, place your cursor in between the parentheses ( ).
  11. In the lower pane, click Attributes and then double-click the attribute you want to work with.
  12. The attribute is inserted into the expression. Example: CJKTOHALF(Line 01).
  13. Click OK.
  14. Click Finish.
  15. To set a condition that applies to the rule, right-click the filter in the left pane, and select Edit ... For more information, see Setting conditions using the Expression Builder.
