The United States (US) Postal Matcher compares your address data with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) ZIP +4 database, enabling you to verify and correct your data and append ZIP +4, 5-digit ZIP, and Carrier Route codes. The US Postal Matcher is certified by the USPS Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS).
The primary functions of the US Postal Matcher are to:
- Collect a list of all possible streets in a city that are possible matches for the postal matcher data
- Compare address components of the input to the possible matches
- Weigh the results of the comparisons
- Populate the output area with the appropriate result
Guidelines
- The Postal Matchers use output from the parsing process as inputs. To obtain optimum performance, the input to the Postal Matchers must first be sorted in geographic order, using the Sort Utility.
- The US Postal Matcher also handles dual address cases that are passed by the Customer Data Parser.
- You can also use the Census, Delivery Point Validation (DPV), CASS certification, Residential Delivery Indicator (RDI), Locatable Address Conversion System (LACSLink), SuiteLink , and Abbreviation Table options for the US Postal Matcher. Any additional attributes that are required by the selected options will be added to the output schema.
- DPV, LACSLink, SuiteLink, and RDI products are compliant with the latest USPS encryption standard. See Specifying DPV Options for details.
