There are three files that fall into the category of "advanced rules files."
- Mask file. The mask file lists the mask characters which define each character in the data value. The default mask file name is maskfile.win/unx. The default file is stored in: C:/Program Files/Trillium Software/MBSW/17/tsq/tables/general_resources. See Using Masks.
- Translation table file. The translation table file contains a translation matrix in the style of m819m037 type. The Postal Matcher uses this file to remove accents and casing from incoming (and directory) data prior to comparison. The translation tables are located in: C:/Program Files/Trillium Software/MBSW/17/tsq/tables/code_pages.
- User-defined rules file. The user-defined rules file contains custom rules. See Custom Postal Matcher Rules File. If you specify this file, you can specify Required Rules Log file option.

- From the Navigation or Project View, right-click the process and select Edit Process. You can also double-click the process to open it for editing.
- Select the Advanced Rules tab.
- Click Upload to upload a file to the repository server.
- If you want to edit the file, click Copy to client. Select a destination folder and click OK. The file will be copied to the folder you specified.
- Go to the destination folder and edit the file using a text editor.
- Click Upload to upload the file back to the server.
- Click Finish.
