After reviewing the output of the Relationship Linker or Reference Matcher process, you can determine if there is a need to customize the rules of the link process to meet your business requirements. You can use the Relationship Linker Rules Editor and/or Data Comparison Calculator to modify the linking rules.
- The Relationship Linker Rules Editor lets you define the fields, patterns, grade thresholds, and comparison routines for the Relationship Linker or Reference Matcher process.
- The Data Comparison Calculator lets you interactively test the results of using different comparison routines and routine modifiers to compare a value or values in one record to a value or values in another record.
There are instances where you want to manipulate the match rules to prevent a match from occurring between records, or to take the frequency of data into consideration in the match criteria. For example, you might want to allow candidate records that have the same account number to remain unmatched. Or you want a high percentage of records with certain social security numbers to be matched regardless of other data. You can perform those "advanced tunings" by using the special comparison routines and technique called "probabilistic matching."
