The Geocoder process uses the address attributes output by the Postal Matcher process to determine latitude and longitude values. These attributes are country-specific. Values are automatically supplied, but you can change one or more of the default attributes or you can specify an attribute for an undefined address line. For example, you might prefer to change one or more of the Postal Matcher output attributes to an attribute from your original input data.
Note: For countries that do not have a postal matcher, the Geocoder is automatically
configured to use the Parser output as its input. If a postal matcher is available but
has not been purchased, you must manually configure the project to use the Parser output
as the Geocoder input.
To specify Geocoder options
-
From the Navigation View, right-click the xx Geocoder (xx = country code) process and select Edit Process.
-
Select the Options tab. The Options window opens.
-
Review the current values for the Geocoder input attributes. They are the default input attributes and vary by country. Some countries use only a few input attributes.

In the Timeout (seconds) field, enter a numeric value for the maximum amount of time in seconds that the Geocoder is allowed to take. The default timeout is 5 seconds.
