Once you export a project definition, you can import the project into any repository in the current version.

Guidelines

  • When you import a project, new entity IDs are generated.
  • If you are importing a project that uses a user-defined template created in the earlier TSS version, you must recreate the template first using the current version.
  • If the project to be imported was created before TSS 13 (legacy projects) and you do not have the templates installed, a message displays asking for the template. You can ignore this message as the project will be properly imported.

To import a project

  1. From the Navigation View, right-click Projects on the Develop or Deploy bar and select Import project. The Project Import window opens.
  2. Select one of the following:
    • Use default project name. Imports the project using the original name of the project.
    • New project name. Allows you to enter a new name for the imported project.
  3. In the Import directory field, browse to the folder that contains the exported project definition and select the definition file (.prj).
Note: Only repository administrators can import projects that were exported to the server. Therefore, only repository administrators can browse to the server directories.
  4. For Type of source, select Current if the project you want to import was created in TSS 13 or later. Select Legacy if the project was created prior to TSS 13 release.
  5. Click Import.
  6. When you see the message Server will submit a batch job to import the project, click OK. The scheduler notification bar opens.
  7. (Optional) Change the job name.
  8. Do one of the following:
    • To schedule the job to run immediately, click Now. The message closes and the job begins running in the background.
    • Click Later. The Set Date & Time scheduler window opens. To immediately run the job in the background, click Run Now. To schedule a time, select a starting date on the calendar and select a time you want the job to run on the selected date. Click Submit to save the scheduled time.
    • Click Cancel to cancel the task.
Note: All scheduled jobs are run in the background. Note the progress in the Background Tasks List View.

When the import completes, a new project appears in the Projects tab. You can run the imported project. If, at any time you delete an imported project, all of the project's entity folders, including the folder for the start entity are deleted as well.
