The following outlines the data connection and querying process:
On a Windows system, configure an ODBC DSN to create an ODBC Office Data Connection (odc) file which facilitates communication between the repository server—including table definitions (scripts)— and Excel.
The connection libraries on the server (odc files) become accessible in Excel through the TSS 17 ODBC Reporting Adapter.
The user runs a query over the data connection.
The TSS 17 ODBC Reporting Adapter extracts the metadata or results set.
One or more tables are returned to an Excel worksheet (the ODBC Consumer) based on the query criteria.
