You use the DATE routine to compare the values in two date fields.

To run the DATE routine with the Data Comparison Calculator

  1. Select the Compare tab.
  2. Enter a date in the Record 1, Field 1 text box.
  3. Enter a date in the Record 2, Field 1 text box.
  4. Click the Encoding drop-down list and select the encoding used in the records.
  5. Select DATE from the Comparison Routines list. The DATE modifier is automatically selected.
  6. Optional: Select a date format from the Additional Routine Modifier list. (The default is YYYYMMDD.)
    Note: If you are comparing Japanese dates, select the JP modifier; for Chinese, Korean, and Taiwanese dates, select the UC modifier. The Asian-style dates are automatically converted to YYYYMMDD format. The JP and UC modifiers become enabled when you select Asian encoding.
  7. Click Compare. The score is displayed in the Score field.
