Effective in July 2015, Ireland has started a new postal code system, Eircode. An Eircode is a unique code designed to accurately identify the location of an address, and is assigned to each residential and business address. Existing postal addresses have been assigned Eircodes.

An Eircode is a seven character alpha-numeric code made up of two parts: routing key and unique identifier. For example, an Eircode "A65F4E2" consists of the routing key "A65" and the unique identifier "F4E2." A routing key consists of three characters and defines a principal post town span of delivery. A unique identifier is unique to an address and distinguishes one address from another.

Note:

Refer to the official website of Irish Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources (www.eircode.ie) for details on the Eircode system.

Guidelines

  • Directory Browser displays Eircode but you may need to drill down all the way to the Premise level to display it.
  • If Eircode is present in the input data, it will be returned in GA_GOUT_POSTAL_CODE. Even if it is not present in the input data, it may be returned by the Postal Matcher in GA_GOUT_POSTAL_CODE.
