The basic countries are approximately 180 countries that do not have individual project templates, and are processed using a special template called the ZZ project template. If you have purchased Basic Country support, the Include basic country processing option is displayed in the Create Project wizard. Selecting this option will create a "zz" flow in your project and all basic countries will be processed through this one process flow. The ZZ template uses the Global Postal Matcher process for address verification and the Geocoder process to obtain latitude and longitude details.

Latin-1 Versions

Basic Country support also includes Latin-1 versions of the following countries: Bulgaria, China, Greece, Israel, Japan, Korea, Macao, Russia, Taiwan, and Thailand.

The Latin-1 versions are intended for single-byte alphabet data and mainly used in a multi-country project where the input data is in English or Roman characters. When you create a project containing Latin-1 data from those countries, select the Include basic country processing option, and then select Latin-1 versions in the Basic Countries window (for example, China (Latin-1)).

Note the following:

  • To use the Latin-1 basic country flow, the input data must be in single byte Latin-1 or Roman characters. If the input data is in native encoding such as CP932 (Japan) or CP1253 (Greece), use the regular country flows.
  • The Latin-1 versions of those countries have differences in postal matchers' address verification levels and Geocoder coordinate levels. Therefore, the overall results from the Latin-1 country flows differ from the regular country flows.

Native Versions

Basic Country support also includes the native language versions of the following countries:

  • Bulgaria - Cyrillic (CP1251)
  • Hong Kong - Traditional Chinese (CP950)
  • Macao - Traditional Chinese (CP950)
  • Thailand - Thai (CP874)

To use the native versions of these countries, the input data must be in the native language. If the input data is in Latin-1 or English, use the Latin-1 versions such as Hong Kong (Latin-1) and Macao (Latin-1).
