You can view priorities and edit their ID values, names, and descriptions in the Manage Rule Priorities window. You can also delete a priority that is not currently used in a business rule.

Note the following:

  • If the priority is used in one or more business rules, you must disassociate it from the rule(s) before you can delete it.
  • You must have edit permissions on all rules associated with any priority you want to edit or delete.
  • Ten priorities, named Priority 1 through Priority 10, are available when you first access a repository using the Discovery Center. You can keep these priorities as is or edit them as needed.

To view, edit, and delete priorities

  1. From the navigation menu, click Rules >Manage Rule Priorities. The Manage Rule Priorities window opens. Priority values display in the ID column. Priority names and descriptions also display. The In Use column alerts you when a priority is used in one or more rules. The columns display in ascending order by ID value.
  2. To edit a priority, click its ID value, name, and description to make edits as needed. ID values and names must be unique. If ID and name values are already in use, you will be prompted to enter a unique value. After making an edit, clicking outside the row validates the last edit you made.

If you edit the priority ID value and the ID value is already used, you will be alerted that all rules with that priority will be modified to use the new priority and the old priority will be deleted. Click Yes to continue.

  3. To delete a priority, click the delete icon () in the Add/Delete column. The priority is removed from the list and the current repository. If the priority is used in one or more rules, a lock icon displays (). You must remove the priority from all rules before you can delete it.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • When you are finished editing and deleting priorities, click Apply. The window closes and your work is saved.
    • To close the window without saving your work, click Cancel or the X icon.
