To create a centralized, shareable library rule, promote a data source rule to the Library by adding it to a new or existing library rule set. A library rule set contains a collection of associated library rules and library attributes.
During the process, you have the choice to copy the rule to the Library and keep an association to the original rule, make a copy without associations, or copy the rule and delete the original from the data source.
There are two ways to add a rule to the library:
Note the following guidelines:
- Deleted data source rules cannot be retrieved or restored.
- When you add a rule to the Library, you can create an association between the library rule set and the data source so when you update the rule in the Library the changes are reflected wherever the rule is used, including the original.
- When you add the rule to the Library and keep an association with the original (data source) rule, you cannot add the original rule to another library rule set unless the association is removed.
- Library rules can also be created when you add or edit a rule set in the Library. These rules have no connection to data sources until the rule set containing the rule is associated to a data source.
