You can delete one or more rule(s) from a rule set. Since the Discovery Center provides the capability to delete multiple rules at once (potentially hundreds of rules), back up your data before you proceed. After you delete the rules, they are removed from the Trillium repository.

Note: You cannot delete rules that have data associations. Remove associations before you delete the rules.

To delete one or more rules from a rule set

  1. In the Rule Sets tab, double-click a rule set to view its properties. The Rule Set: Name panel opens. The Rules and Attributes tabs under the panel populate.
  2. In the Rules tab, select one or more rules by clicking the check box next to the rule, or anywhere in the row, to highlight it. To select multiple rules, press the Ctrl or Shift key and click the rows you want to delete. To select all rules in a page, click Select Page.
  3. Click Delete. You are prompted to confirm the deletion.
    • If the selected rules have no data association:
    1. Click OK to delete the rules. A confirmation message opens: All selected rules have been deleted.
    2. Click OK to close the message.
    • If one or more of the selected rules have data association, you see the message: Selected rules(s) not in use have been deleted. Selected rule(s) in use cannot be deleted. Rules with data association are not deleted. Click OK to close the message.
    • If all the selected rules have data association, you see the message: The selected rule(s) are in use. Rules must be disassociated from data before they can be deleted.Click OK to close the message. None of the rules are deleted.

After a rule has been deleted from the Trillium server and you try to go back to the page that shows the rule details, you will see the message: The item is no longer available, it was deleted from the server.
