You can export rule sets to be used in other repositories and by other users. The exported file(s) are saved in the default export location on your server system: (C:\Program Data\Trillium Software\MBSW\17.3\Data\export).

Note the following guidelines:

  • You export rule sets to either .ebr or .XML file formats. The files can then be imported into Libraries in other repositories.
  • When you export to .ebr, one file is created that contains all rule sets selected. When you export to XML, one file is created for each rule set you select.
  • You can export rules from the Library or from the navigation menu.

To export rule sets from the Business Rule Library

  1. In the Business Rules Library, from the Rule Sets tab, do one of the following:
    • Select one or more rule sets by clicking the check box, or anywhere in the row, to highlight it. To select multiple rule sets, press the Ctrl or Shift key and click the rows you want to export. To select all rows in the current view, click Select Page. Click Export.
    • Double-click a rule set to open the Rule Set: Name panel. Click Export.

The Export Rule Set window opens.

  2. In Save as file name, enter a name for the file you are exporting. Do not include the following invalid characters in the rule set name: \ / : * ? " < > |
Note: By default, exported .XML files use the following naming convention: file name-rule set name-rule set ID. For example, if you export a rule set called Boston Rules with a rule set ID of 10 and name the file November Rules, the exported file will be called November Rules-Boston Rules-10.xml. Any invalid characters in the rule set name will be converted to underscores (_).
  3. Select extension .ebr or .xml as the file type.
  4. Click Export. If there is a file by the same name in the export location, you are prompted to overwrite the file. Do one of the following:
    • Click OK to overwrite the file.
    • Click Cancel to go back to the Export Rule Set page. Enter a different file name and click Export.

    An export confirmation message opens.

  5. Click OK to close the message.
