Use the Settings window to configure data connection cache size. Set this value to specify the maximum memory, in megabytes, to be used when loading data (adding data sources), analyzing attributes, and creating indexes.

The cache size setting can have an impact on data import (data source creation) performance and therefore has a default value of 128 that you can customize.

Note: Data connection settings apply to all data connections on the current repository server.

To configure cache size

  1. On the top Menu bar, click the Settings icon . The Settings window opens.
  2. Configure the cache size setting by specifying a value between 128 and 2000 MB (2 GB). 128 is the default. See guidelines: Setting cache size specifies the maximum memory, in megabytes, to be used when loading data (creating data sources), analyzing attributes, and creating indexes. Define this setting to be as high as your hardware allows (up to 2000 MB) without relying on virtual memory.
Note: On multiple CPU systems, the data load process can run multiple times in parallel. In these situations, memory is shared across all processes to ensure that it does not exceed the limit you configure.
  3. Click Save to save your changes. (Click Cancel to return to the previous view without saving changes.)
  4. Click Close to close the window.
