After you select the rule set to associate, map the names of all attributes used in the rule to attributes in the rule set. Attributes are pre-mapped when names are the same in the data source and the rule set, although you can edit this mapping as needed. You can also add rule attributes as new attributes in the rule set rather than mapping them to existing rule set attributes.

Note:

You must map each rule attribute to a rule set attribute, although not all rule set attributes need to be mapped to all rule attributes.

To map all rule attributes to rule set attributes

  1. In the Add Rule to Existing Library Rule Set window, click the Map tab.
    • The Rule Attributes list populates with unmapped attributes used in the rule expression. To see both mapped and unmapped attributes, select All. A rule attribute with the same name as a rule set attribute is pre-mapped.
    • The Mapped Rule Attributes column is populated with the names of attributes in the current rule's data source that have been previously mapped to rule set attributes. These attributes show a lock icon () and the mapping cannot be edited. Mapped rule attributes that are in the data source but not used in the current rule display in italics. For example,
    • The Rule Set Attribute Names column includes the names of all attributes in the rule set.

A message at the bottom of the window lists the number of attributes that require mapping, if any. Attributes shown with an asterisk (*) are already mapped.

  2. To map a rule attribute, do one of the following:
    • Click a rule attribute and a rule set attribute and click Map.
    • Drag a rule attribute onto a rule set attribute.

The rule attribute's name shows in the Mapped Rule Attributes column.

    Note:

This option is unavailable if all rule set attributes are already mapped. In this case, you must add rule attributes as new attributes.

  3. To add a rule attribute as a new attribute, select one or more attributes in the Rule Attributes list and click Add. Each attribute displays in both the Mapped Rule Attributes and Rule Set Attribute Names columns.
  4. To edit your mappings:
    • Select a single mapped or added attribute and click the un-map button ().
    • To reverse all mappings, click the un-map all button ( ).
  5. Do one of the following:
