A new feature has been introduced in the Portal that allows automatic deletion of user specified redundant Targets. This is defined in the Target Deletion Administration Job in the Portal and run by the Job Scheduler.

The Target Deletion Job is a special Administration Job that automatically deletes user specified redundant Targets within the capacity database.

The Job Scheduler executes this Job in the same way as any other Administration Job however, this is a pre-supplied job containing a special set of options and cannot be deleted.

The Target Deletion job properties allow you to customise when to delete Targets (that is, how old data needs to be before the Target is redundant) and the Groups and/or Targets that will be included in the deletion.

If no Control Center is associated with the Target then the Target and all of its data is deleted immediately.

If a running Control Center is associated with the Target then it is flagged for deletion and the Target and its data will be deleted by the associated Control Center.

If an inactive Control Center is associated with the Target then it is flagged for deletion and will be deleted by the associated Control Center once the Control Center is started again.

If a Target is associated with a decommissioned Control Center it will be flagged for deletion but not deleted, then please contact support for this particular scenario.

CAUTION:
Deletion is a permanent process that CANNOT be undone.
