In outline:

Log in to the target system with a userid that has local administrator privileges

If you plan to capture VMware data and have not done so before, install Microsoft’s .NET Framework 4.7.2 or above – plus any patches as you deem necessary.

If you plan to use the silent install facility for Acquire for Windows you must install .NET 4.7.2 or above – plus any patches before installing Acquire, as it will attempt to install any pre-requisites but will then stall with a hidden user prompt.

Right-click on
Acquire.exeand select Run as Administrator… to run through the installer, and pick the options you want to install. There is no overhead to taking all the defaults as presented. -
When it has installed, optionally supply credentials now or later to capture data from other Windows systems through WMI or capture VMware data if appropriate by running the supplied Accounts.exe utility which can be found in the
\Program Files\Syncsort Capacity Management Acquiredirectory. -
