If you are upgrading from a version of Syncsort™ Capacity Management before 10.10 and you capture data from Windows targets you must ensure that compression of files is turned off on all Windows targets well in advance of performing the upgrade. Acquire for Windows data files when compressed only drop 2 – 5% in size and Precisely no longer support this as there is minimal benefit.
Before upgrading you must:
Check all Windows targets have the Acquire Details -> Compress box unselected
For any that have not, make the change and save it and the Capture Profile will be automatically re-sent to the target
Allow time for the Capture Profile to be transferred and put into use
Allow more time for any files still compressed to be retrieved and processed by your pre-v10.10 Control Center.
If you have many Windows systems you can export all target definitions from System Manager to a CSV, edit the compression flag for all Windows targets in Excel, then save and re-import the CSV to effect a mass update.
You must ensure updated Capture Profiles are sent to all affected Windows targets, and that all compressed Windows data already created has been processed before upgrading Syncsort™ Capacity Management.
Precisely recommends performing these checks and making any updates several days before you plan to perform the upgrade.
If compressed Windows files are presented to a newer Control Center they will be discarded, and messages will be written to the System Manager event log.
