The Syncsort™ Capacity Management Installation Guide includes full install instructions for new installs.

Note: Precisely only supports upgrades from version 12.00 or newer. You must uninstall any older version prior to this installation.
After upgrading the software, you must check if any post installation actions are required. Once the installation completes, your database(s) must be updated using the Upgrade Database application before using the Control Center or any other Syncsort™ Capacity Management application. Once the database upgrade completes, the version of the upgraded database updates to Version 12400 Update Revision 0.
Note: When using the Syncsort™ Capacity Management Portal, the associated website will need to be restarted after any Upgrade Database task has been completed. This is performed through the standard Microsoft Internet Information Services Manager facility.

When upgrading from some earlier versions of Syncsort™ Capacity Management, be aware that Upgrade Database may take a significant amount of time depending on the numbers of versions being skipped and the volume of data present in the database. This is a result of these key changes to the database structure:

  • Large amounts of z/OS data can take a very long time to process if zAAP and zIIP metric values have to be converted to their normalized form.

In order to facilitate this process and make the creation of new index entries efficient it is recommended that existing indexes are regularly defragmented. This can be achieved by using the Syncsort™ Capacity Management Job Scheduler service to run running a script provided by Precisely and documented in the Syncsort™ Capacity Management Portal online help.
