You may have three years of Integrator data collected at 5-minute intervals in your database and want your historic data to be summarizer as follows:

• Summarize data older than 6 months to 1 hour

• Summarize data older than 1 year to 1 day

• Delete data older than 2 years

In this case, you might want to gradually turn on the Data Summarizer, giving it no more than six months of backlog to summarize for each run.

For each step below, you would save the changes, click Run and wait for all jobs before moving to the next step. You should be aware that each step could take many hours to complete due to the large amount of data that needs to be summarized.

1. Turn on the Deletion Action and set the months to 30 months (6 months data will be deleted)
2. Change Deletion Action to 24 months (an additional 6 months of data will be deleted)
3. Turn on the Daily Aggregation Action and set the months to 18 months (6 months of data will be aggregated to daily values)
4. Change Daily Aggregation Action to 12 Job (an additional 6 months of data will be aggregated to daily values)
5. Turn on the Hourly Aggregation Action to 9 months (3 months of data will be aggregated to hourly values)
6. Change Hourly Aggregation Action to 6 months (an additional 3 months of data will be aggregated to daily values)

Once the backlog has been cleared, you can set the job to run automatically on a daily basis. From this point on Data Summarizer will need to action one day of deletion, daily, and hourly aggregation per day.
