Single or Multiple Targets
A data file originating from Acquire for z/OS can be in one of two styles:
-
A file with the standard Acquire name format (see Acquire File Naming Convention), containing an 8-digit target number. Such a file contains data for just one target system
-
A file with the special name format where the 8-digit target number is replaced with the character string MULTIZOS. In this case the file contains data from one or several systems, and the target numbers are read from the data by Control Center.
The first of these types of file goes directly into the tgtnnnnnnnn folder under work\in.
The second type of file also goes into the tgtnnnnnnnn folder, but in this case the nnnnnnnn needs to match one of the target numbers embedded in the file. For more information, refer to "Installing Acquire for zOS" section in the Syncsort™ Capacity Management Installation Guide, in particular to the section headed Output File Names and Controls.
In both cases the file extension is arbitrary (assuming only one file is being collected at a time), but it must be present and it must be numeric.
