To be included in the Available Instances tree a Query MUST meet the following criteria:

The Job Names listed under an Application include those that meet the Job Name and Job Type criteria for one or more Rule in the Query.

  • A Query inside the Target Groups node of the Groups Application.

  • The Query contains one or more Rules.

  • Each Rule should must not be associated with a linked Capacity Database

  • Each Rule can include one or two Dynamic Expressions. One based on Job Name and or one based on Job Type.

  • Both Dynamic Expressions must be defined associated with z/OS Job and Step Number by Application Reporting Class.

  • Each Dynamic Expression needs to use the Wildcard option and be have the Equals operator.

  • Expressions can use all wildcard characters except # (which can be used in the rest of Groups to represent a single numeric digit in a wildcard.)

Anything outside of these criteria will result in the facility not working as expected.

Note: Each Rule represents a complete set of criteria therefore if a Job meets the criteria of one of the Rules in a Query it will be included under the Application in the Available Instances tree (assuming it exists in the Reporting Period).
