If collection fails, the fields in the System Manager Target grid listed below will be populated as follows for this Target:
  • Connect Success: Crossed
  • Connect Attempted: Date and Time connection attempt

If connection fails, the error details will be listed in the Control Center Events list in the bottom right-hand pane of System Manager. The error should include details of which Target failed and why.

Common Issues are:

  • The account Control Center is running under does not have the same permissions as the account the user of the Portal had during the Template definition process.
  • The RESTful API has a limit to the amount of data to be returned in one call. For a particular instance and metric all the data for the time range is collected in one request. This may be more than the RESTful API limit. One way to resolve this is to reduce the Batch Size if it is larger than the interval length in the Time Period options for the Target.
  • The end time specified has been set too near to the collection time and samples have not been fully captured when Control Center attempts to collect them. One way to resolve this is to increase the End Time value in the Time Period Options to give the capture mechanism more time to finish capturing before collection is attempted.
