Acquire for Windows provides the ability to capture performance data remotely, i.e., without the need to have an Acquire installed on every target system. This is achieved by the use of Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) and can be used for both Windows and SQL Server targets.
In order to enable WMI connectivity to the agentless target system , firewall exceptions are required:
- To enable DCOM connections, on the target server, enter Start->Run, type the command gpedit.msc and press Enter to initiate the Group Policy Object Editor.
- From the Group Policy Editor, open the Domain Profile for the Windows Firewall as shown below and ensure that the setting Windows Firewall: Allow remote administration exception is Enabled.Figure 1. The Windows Group Policy Editor - Enabling DCOM connections for WMI
