Syncsort™ Capacity Management Control Center manages all communication with target systems, and can utilize SSH to conduct Secure FTP sessions with targets. Like FTP or FTPS, the kinds of operations possible with Secure FTP are to log on or off, change location to different directories, get or put files, rename or delete files or list contents of directories. It cannot run scripts or programs, and it cannot change its privileges once logged on as a given user.
Precisely has implemented Secure Shell’s client-server model of operation with Control Center acting as the client, and target machines as the server component. This ensures that all communication using SSH originates from the Control Center system in what is called Pull mode. With a normal FTP or FTPS connection there is a Windows Push option, whereby a Windows target can deliver unsolicited data to Control Center. This option is not available with the use of Secure Shell.
You may need to adjust your firewall rules to cater for SSH traffic originating from your Control Center server. By default, TCP port 22 is used to conduct conversations, although this is a user-configurable option within SSH, and both the client and the server end must have the same settings to work correctly.
