SQL Server has two data recovery models: full and simple. Full recovery mode puts more strain on the SQL Server log file and may need your DBA to administer regular maintenance in order to shrink its size. It does provide a means of rolling forward from a backup to re-apply transactions and recover to a known point in time. Simple recovery mode as its name suggests does less. It only keeps transaction updates in the log file until they are committed to the database, requires generally less disk space, but cannot be used to rebuild a database from a point-in-time backup.
You may deem your Syncsort™ Capacity Management data worthy of full recovery mode logging or you may consider that simple is adequate. Either way, you are strongly advised to consult your SQL Server DBA a Capacity Databaseabout the maintenance and monitoring of the log file and choose the appropriate option for you.
The creation of a Capacity Database through Data Management or System Manager does not explicitly set a recovery mode so it will take the default set for the SQL Server environment where the database is to be stored.
