Description
|
Acquire
|
Acquire(s) installed on operating systems capture performance/capacity data
collected and processed by Control Center.
Acquires only communicate with a Control Center.
|
Core Software
|
The core software includes multiple features:
- Control Center : Data processing Service that accesses one Capacity
Database at a time.
- Scheduler: Task scheduling service that runs Data Management tasks
(aggregation and deletion) and Automatic Reporting schedules created with the
Desktop Applications. Scheduler communicates with the Control Center service via
Capacity Database and Scheduler can access multiple Capacity Databases
concurrently. Desktop Applications do not communicate with the Control Center
directly.
- Desktop Apps: Applications installed on a machine for managing the
Control Center and running local reports. The License Server issues requests and
handles licenses for the running of Control Centers and some of the desktop
applications.
|
Capacity Database
|
SQL Server database storing the capacity data and configuration details.
Can be accessed by multiple Control Centers.
Conceptually, the database is the core of the infrastructure, and all the
applications are distributed around it.
|
Concentrator
|
A Concentrator is a Windows Service which is a special type of Control Center that
acts as a collection and secure forwarding node for data being processed into a
Capacity database. Its purpose is to provide improved security by limiting the
connectivity between networks to a single pipe and also underpins the Syncsort™ Capacity Management Cloud
solution.
|
Portal
|
IIS Web Portal for creating reporting and configuring Administration Jobs, Service
Views and Integrator Templates. Portal can access multiple Capacity Databases
concurrently.
|
Job Scheduler (JS)
|
Service that runs:
- Service Views
- Administration Jobs
- Data Summarizer (version 12.50 onwards)
- Target Deletion (version 12.60 onwards)
Multiple Job Schedulers can be deployed for use with one database.
|
Integrator
|
Imports time-series data from anywhere, including RESTful APIs, databases, flat
files.
|
Planner
|
Analytical modelling. What-if analysis of workload and hardware changes.
