Acquire can process data from DB2. It uses SMF record type 100 to extract metrics about each DB2 subsystem and record type 101 for transactions that have completed processing.
Type 101 records are usually very voluminous and will usually require some adjustment of WORK and SORTWKxx dataset sizes in the COLLECT job.
To control processing and the volume of output generated by Acquire the following control cards can be used. The defaults are underlined:
|
The DB2ACC parameter is similar to the CICSOPTS parameter in that it controls the level of output for DB2 transactions. Each of these options may be specified as Y or N. The default is NNNNN, and any other combination is valid. If all options are set to “N” then no DB2 accounting data will be processed, that is, setting DB2=Y and DB2ACC=NNNNN will result in DB2 subsystem and buffer pool details only being written by Acquire.
The process options for DB2ACC are to include or exclude:
|
For each option set to N, the corresponding field in the output file from Acquire is set to “*” to represent “all of this type”. By judicious use of this control card, you can drastically reduce the amount of output, and control how quickly the size of a Capacity Database will grow. Be sure you mean to choose the options you use, as you cannot undo this aggregation withinSyncsort™ Capacity Management.
