What Acquire does
Acquire captures performance data from a mainframe running z/OS. It works by reading dumped SMF datasets and other information, under control of parameters that tell it what systems to capture data for, possibly what dates and times to bracket the data, and other optional information. The data captured by Acquire can be automatically collected by the Control Center component of Syncsort™ Capacity Management, or can be made available to Control Center by the user by copying it to an appropriate location for processing. Once the data has been imported into a Capacity Database all further analysis is carried out using Syncsort™ Capacity Management applications on a PC.
