If you need to process z/OS data into your Capacity Database that is earlier than the last sample Control Center has seen, then the following should be noted.
Syncsort™ Capacity Management only expects data to move forwards in time, so it will not fill a “gap” in the database. You must delete the data after the “gap” and reprocess completely until you are back up to date. You may have the Acquire output files to do this, or you may need to re-run the SMF processing to do this.
Follow these notes to do this correctly:
-
Using System Manager deselect the collection enabled flag for the target in question if you are having Control Center pick up data. If you are pushing it directly to Control Center's \Work\In directory you must ensure that new data is prevented from being processed.
-
Stop Control Center.
-
Use Data Management to delete all the data after the “gap”.
-
Locate the \Work\Seen\tgt<nnnnnnnn> directory on the Control Center machine, where <nnnnnnnn> is the target number of the system in question.
-
Delete all files from this directory.
-
Restart Control Center.
-
Introduce Acquire output files to process forwards from the end of what is in the database, in strict date and time order.
