Data capture from VMware vCenter Server requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4 to be installed on the machine where the Acquire will be installed. If this is not present, the Acquire installation process will attempt to install a basic v4.0 environment which is adequate for Acquire to work, but you are strongly recommended to pre-install the latest version of .NET plus any follow-on maintenance as supplied or advised by Microsoft.
Note that Microsoft .NET 4 Framework has its own set of pre-requisites (for example, the Windows Imaging Component), which it is beyond the scope of the Acquire installer to validate. If you let Acquire install the embedded version of .NET 4.0 and any prerequisites are not present, installation will be halted, and you will be prompted to download and install the required components from the Microsoft Download Center.
Note that you do not have to install the Acquire on the same system where a vCenter Server is running. For later versions of vCenter that are only delivered as a Linux Appliance you cannot do this anyway.
All that is needed is that the vCenter/sdk URL is accessible to whichever Windows system where an Acquire is running.
