Important notes:

Log on as Administrator, or as another user that is a member of the Local Administrators group.

The Acquire for Windows installation program is called Acquire.exe. There is also an Acquire.MSI file than can be used for scripted, automated or silent installs. See Silent installation for details.

Acquire installs as a standard Windows Service. Precisely recommends you set it to run under the Local System account. It is possible for you to install Acquire so that it runs under an ordinary local or domain user rather than under Local System, however this is not recommended, because it will make agentless data capture using WMI, and also Oracle data capture, very difficult or impossible.
- Start the installation by right-clicking on Acquire.exe and select the Run As
Administrator option.After some initialization messages, you will see the Setup Wizard Welcome screen.
- Click Next to continue.If an Acquire service is already running (that is, you are installing an Acquire upgrade), the setup program will automatically close down the existing service for you before proceeding with the upgrade installation.Figure 1. The destination folder is where the Acquire executables are installed, it is not where capture files are held. Refer to Table 1 for more details. - Choose the destination folder where Acquire will be installed. By default, this
is C:\Program Files\Athene Acquire, but can be changed as necessary.
Type the required location directly into the Path box,
Use the Browse button to navigate to the required location.
- When you have selected the appropriate installation folder, click Next.Note:
The install location must have at least 20MB free space to install the basic Windows data capture component. If you plan to capture data from Oracle systems, from VMware, or plan to use the WMI feature to capture from multiple Windows systems, then it must have at least 100 MB free space.
Due to restrictions in Oracle’s software, if you plan to capture Oracle data with Acquire for Windows you must provide an install location that has no spaces in it. Do not use the default of C:\Program Files\Athene Acquire.
