Give the server a descriptive DNS name, for example Capacity_Management_Push_Server.

  • Make sure you know the physical path to the FTP root folder the FTP server will use. On a Windows server with IIS, the default location is typically C:\inetpub\ftproot.

  • Preferably, create a home directory under the FTP root. This will make it easier to switch between FTP servers if that should ever be necessary, and keep Acquire data “away” from possible other use for the FTP site.

  • Have a descriptive user name, for example Syncsort™ Capacity Management, that can log into the FTP server and that has full control over its FTP home directory.

  • Before configuring Control Center or System Manager, check that the user name can log into the FTP server and perform normal operations such as putting and getting files and creating directories.
