This is an optional step. Windows accounts are used with Basic authentication. These may
be domain accounts, or accounts that are local to the IIS machine. By setting a domain
name, the user is freed from having to enter domain\username when
they authenticate.
- To set which domain to use, open the IIS Manager and drill down to a node with the same name as the virtual directory of the Portal (for example, Portal).
- Open Authentication, right-click Basic Authentication and select
Edit from the context menu. Enter the domain to use under Default domain.Figure 1. Windows: Default domain authentication
- With the above settings, a user could authenticate using just a user ID of User1, rather than DOMAIN1\User1.
