The primary task performed by the Concentrator service is collecting the performance data from Acquires and sending it to a Control Center. During setup, the Concentrator service can be configured to run as a named user account or one of the built-in service accounts. The Concentrator does not need administrative privileges to run, so the primary factor in choosing an account to use is for access to the Acquires.
Also consider this: The Concentrator service must have permission to retrieve data files from target systems and to post new instructions to the Acquires running on them. If this is done using FTP, FTPS, or SSH, the credentials are provided explicitly and do not affect the choice of account for the Concentrator service. If some Acquires are communicated with via network file sharing without explicitly specifying network credentials, the credentials of the Concentrator will be used. The Concentrator service account must be granted permissions to create, read, write and delete raw data files on every target. Such permissions are normally granted when the Acquire is first installed.
