Suburb regions are more detailed and represent a true gazetted (official) boundary supplied by the State and Territory jurisdictions.
Locality regions are representations of locations that are not official (non-gazetted), having been provided in order to facilitate a full, nationwide suburb / locality coverage.
Note: Coastal boundaries contain a higher number of nodes so as not to reduce the level of coastline detail.
Coverage is provided for all of Australia, without gaps or overlaps, and includes external island territories. There are over 15,000 boundaries.
Note: The boundaries can be searched by suburb / locality name.
