To select data for your vector thematic map:

  1. Click or touch the Add icon on the upper right corner of the map to open the Add panel.
  2. Click or touch on the Vector Thematic icon.
    The Thematic panel opens.
  3. Click on the Data tab.
  4. Choose Existing template or New Selection.
    New selection Use this to create a new template. You need to specify the map layer, variables, and tables.
    Existing template Use this to create a vector thematic based on any existing template in the database. The color, layout and style of the thematic map will be derived from the selected template.

New selection

Use this to create a new template. You need to specify the map layer, variables, and tables.

  1. Click the New selection radio-button.
  2. Select a layer from the drop-down list.
  3. Select your data for the thematic map.

    Click the icon to expand a table then click the check-box against the variable to select it. As you select a variable, it appears in the pane at the bottom.

    Note: If you select only one variable, the thematic will be created with the name of the selected variable. If you select multiple variables, the name of the thematic would be New Template n, where n denotes the number.
  4. Select the Is Dynamic check-box if you wish to make the thematic dynamic.
  5. Select Aggregate using Centroid instead of Apportionment if you want the calculation to be based on the cell centroid.
  6. Click Save. You can click Save as Template to save it as a template for future reference. Later on, you can create a thematic based on this template.

Existing template

Use this to create a vector thematic based on any existing template in the database. The color, layout and style of the thematic map will be derived from the selected template.

  1. Select a template from the Saved Thematic list.
    The selected template loads. The tables and variables associated with the selected template are displayed.
  2. Modify the tables and variables as desired.
  3. Modify the color scheme and color breaks as desired.
  4. When you are done, click Save.
