You can add a new business rule to the business glossary, modify details of an existing business rule, or delete it using the Business Rule tab of the Define Glossary page. You can also create and maintain a new business rule or select an existing rule from the scorecard feature of the Profile & Monitor section. For more information, see Configuring scorecard.

The business rules you write here can act as a suggestion to the business user working on this entity downstream, such as the user creating scorecards on models that use this glossary entity.

Example
  1. The Customer Data glossary entity has a property called ID. In the Business Rules(s) of this property, you specify: ID can't be null.
  2. You create a model called Customer Demography using this glossary entity.
  3. You are configuring rules to assess and monitor the quality of data in the Customer Demography model. When you start building the rule, the business rule ID can't be null will be displayed, giving you a hint on how to ensure data integrity in the model.
