The Generate Import Export Template function allows you to generate an empty delimited file or spreadsheet to be used to import data into an EnterWorks repository. You will configure the empty file by selecting an Import Template to define the columns in the file and deciding which Category Attributes will be included along with the global attributes specified by the Import Template.

To use the Generate Import Export Template function:

  1. Open the desired repository in a Repository View.
  2. Click the More dropdown on the Repository View's activity bar and select Generate Import Export Template. The Generate Import Export Template window will open.
  3. Edit the configuration options as desired:
    • Select Preference or Template:

      • The Preference to use when generating the file. If a Preference is specified, the only Category Attributes that will be presented for inclusion are those that are in the Preference. For information about how Preferences affect multi-language attribute headers, see Multi-language Behavior for Imports.

      • The Template that will be used to define the global attributes that will be included in the file. The template also defines the set of Category Attributes that are available to be included.

The output file's column headers are defined by the selected Import template. If you need specific language variants of an attribute to be included in the output file, make sure they are included in the Import template

    • Output Format: The format of the file:

      • CSV: Comma Separated Values

      • Excel Workbook (xlsx)

      • Excel Workbook (xlsx) with Format: This output

        • The columns of required attributes will be highlighted.

        • A worksheet named Lists will be generated. It displays any Code Sets.

        • Attributes of type Code Set will display dropdown menus that allow the user to select a value from the Code Set.

        • The default language (English) variant of multi-language attributes will be output.
      • Excel 97 - 2003 (xls)

    • File Split By Category: (This setting appears if the repository has Category Attributes.) If selected, if Category Attributes are to be included in the generated file, instead of generating one file that lists all the Category Attributes from all the selected Taxonomy nodes, a separate file is generated for each Taxonomy node. Each file will include all specified global attributes and only those Category Attributes that are assigned to the Taxonomy node.

For example, if you have four different nodes that each have ten Category Attributes (with no overlap), not setting this option would produce a file with all the selected global attributes and 40 Category Attributes. If the File Split by Category option is set, four files will be produced, one for each node, that contain all the specified global attributes and the ten Category Attributes associated with that node.

    • Include Category Attributes from Taxonomy selection panel. (This setting appears if the repository has Category Attributes.)

These two columns are used to define the list of Category Attributes that will be included in the file. Select one or more Category Attributes and use the right arrow button and left arrow button to move them between the Available Attributes list (on the left) and the Include Category Attributes from Taxonomy list (on the right).

  4. To generate the file and close the Generate Import Export Template window, click Confirm. To close the window without generating a file, click Cancel .
