EnterWorks performs file maintenance in the following ways:

  • EnterWorks performs automatic removal of job log files and unneeded EnterWorks system database records, (see Scheduled Cleanup).

  • The scripts to start services archive system log files. They can also be modified to delete temporary and relic files, (see Modified Start Services Scripts).

  • Customized scripts can be periodically triggered from batch files to perform file archival and removal specific to a particular EnterWorks installation, (see Manually Archiving and Removing Files).

Modified Start Services Scripts

Typically, the scripts used to start EnterWorks services, (see Restarting EnterWorks Services), archive system log files, but they do not remove old files from EnterWorks. You can modify the EnterWorks Start scripts to manually archive and remove files if desired, (see Manually Archiving and Removing Files).

Using modified Start scripts to maintain files may work well for EnterWorks installations that are restarted regularly, however, this method may not work well for systems that run continually. In that case it might be better to create separate scripts to manually archive and remove the necessary files.

Manually Archiving and Removing Files

EnterWorks contains two scripts that can be used to manually archive and remove files:

  • ArchiveExpiredFiles.bat

  • RemoveExpiredFiles.bat

They are located in:

          <drive>:\Enterworks\bin

These expired files scripts allow you to specify where to archive or remove files from, where to archive files to, and the age of the files that should be archived or deleted. Custom scripts can also be created to call these scripts as necessary.

For example, a script could call RemoveExpiredFiles.bat to clean up the archive folder or folders, then it could call ArchiveExpiredFiles.bat to move newer files to the archives.
