Creating a Preference (sometimes referred to as a User Preference) allows users to design a particular view of a repository's contents when the repository is open in a Repository View. The user can select which attribute values to display, the attribute display order, and which (if any) linked relationships to show. An active Preference determines how the records will be displayed in the Repository View, Inline Editor, and the Detail Editor.
Preferences are named and saved so they can be used again later. A repository can have more than one Preference available for use, though only one is active at a time. A Preference can only be used with the repository it was created for.
Users can select which Preference they want to use. They can also create, edit, delete, and share Preferences. They can specify a Default Preference for a repository, which will be used when the repository is opened in a Repository View, and select a Favorite Detail Editor Preference.
If no Preference has been designated as the Default Preference or the Favorite Detail Editor Preference, when a repository or record is opened, all record attributes will be displayed.
