A category or dynamic attribute association object is used to track which category or dynamic attributes are associated with which of a profile's attributes. Once the association object is created, category or dynamic attributes can be associated with taxonomy or hierarchy nodes using a Repository View's Hierarchy/Taxonomy manager.

To create or edit an association object for category or dynamic attributes:

  1. Log into the Classic UI as a user with administrative privileges.
  2. Open the Feature sidebar, open Model, and select Taxonomy or Hierarchy.
  3. The folders holding the taxonomies or hierarchies are listed across the top of the tab. Open the folder holding the desired taxonomy or hierarchy and select it.
  4. Open the Manage dropdown and select Category/Dynamic Attribute Association. The Manage Category/Dynamic Attributes editor will appear.
  5. To create a new association object, open the Action dropdown and select New. To edit an existing object, select the object, open the Action dropdown, and select Edit.
  6. An empty association object will appear. Edit it:
    • Name: The name of the association object.
    • Description: (Optional) A description of the association object.
    • Profile: Select the profile for the repository or repositories that will use the taxonomy.
    • Inherit parent/ancestor category/dynamic attributes: If this is selected, nodes will inherit the attributes associated with their ancestor nodes.
    • Synchronize With:
    • Source:
      • Category/Dynamic Association Mapping: Once the object is created, you can map category or dynamic attributes to nodes using the New UI's Hierarchy/Taxonomy manager, or you can map them now by clicking Edit.
        1. The hierarchical code set will be displayed. Repeat the following steps for each node you want to assign category or dynamic attributes to:
          1. Drill down into the code set and select the node to be updated.
          2. The Category Attribute Association Mapping Editor will appear. It displays existing attribute assignments, new assignments, and any assignments inherited from ancestor nodes.
            • To add an attribute assignment, click the Manage button. The Select Category/Dynamic Attribute window will appear. It lists the profile's category or dynamic attributes.
              1. Select the desired attributes to be assigned and click the Add Selected button at the bottom of the editor. The selected attributes will be added to the list.
              2. It is also possible to add an attribute to the profile or edit an attribute. After you configure the attribute, you will need to clear the cache before these edits take effect. To add or edit an attribute:
                1. To add an attribute, open the Action dropdown, and select New. To edit an attribute, select the attribute, open the Action dropdown, select Edit.
                2. Make your changes.
                3. Click OK.
                4. Click Save to save your changes to the profile.
            • To remove an attribute assignment, check the checkbox next to the attribute and click Delete.
            • If an attribute uses a code set, you can specify the codes that are allowed for this node. To do so, check the checkbox next to the attribute and click Possible Values.
              1. Select the Subset radio button.
              2. To allow codes, select them in the Available Detail Code List and click the right-arrow button to move them to the Selected Detail Code List. To disallow codes, select them and use the left-arrow button to move codes from the Selected Detail Code List back to the Available Detail Code List.
              3. Click the OK button or Cancel button to return to the Category/Dynamic Association Mapping editor.
            • To change the order the attributes will be displayed in, click Set Order.
              1. The Order Attribute Mapping editor will appear. Drag and drop the attributes into the desired order.
              2. Click Save.
          3. Click Close to return to the node selection tree.
        2. Click Return to return to the Manage Category/Dynamic Attributes Editor.
      • Import from File of Layout Type: If this is selected, the following options will appear.
        • Type: The type of file:
          • Default:
          • GPC:
        • Find file:
          • Upload File:
            • File Name: Click Choose File to choose the upload file.
          • File on Server:
            • File Name: Use the dropdown menu to select the file.
  7. When you are finished editing the association object, click Save to save your changes.
