To create or edit a profile:

  1. In the Feature bar, open the Model tab and select Profiles. A list of the existing profiles will appear.
  2. Open the Profile editor for a new or an existing profile:
    • To create a new profile, in the Action dropdown menu, select New.
    • To edit an existing profile, select the profile, then in the Action dropdown menu, select Edit.
  3. The Profile editor will appear.
    1. Edit the first page's configuration options:
      • Name: The name of the profile. Do not include HTML or special characters in the name, such as & < > ".
      • Description: (Optional) A description of the profile. Do not include HTML.
      • Type: The type of profile. For more information, see Profile Types.
    2. Click the Next button to move to the page to edit the profile's properties.
      • Create any needed profile properties to store attribute metadata. For example, a profile property called Portal_Use_Flag could be used to identify any attribute that needs to be sent to an external portal. To create a property:
        1. Open the Action dropdown menu and select New. The Property Editor will appear.
        2. Select a Property Template if one exists that satisfies the requirement (optional).
        3. Enter a Property Name. Do not include special characters in the name, such as & < > ".
        4. Select the Data Type.
        5. Fill in the additional fields, which are different depending upon the Data Type.
        6. Click the OK button.
      • Create any needed Profile Property Rules (also called Validation Rules) to define checks made against one or more fields when a record is modified. These Profile Property Rules can be assigned to one or more attributes. To create a Profile Property Rule:
        1. Click the Profile Property Rules tab.
        2. Open the Action dropdown menu and click New.
        3. The Property Rule Editor window will open.
        4. Enter the Property Rule conditions.
        5. Click the OK button to return to the Profile editor.
    3. Click the Next button to move to the Define Attributes page. 
      1. Create each attribute:
        1. Open the Action dropdown menu and click New.
        2. The attribute will be opened in a Manage Attribute window. Edit the attribute configuration fields as desired. (See Configure an Attribute.)
        3. When you are finished editing the Attribute, click the OK button.
    4. When you are finished adding or editing attributes, in the Profile editor, click Save.
  4. In order for your changes to take effect, you must clear the cache.
  5. Profiles are securable objects and must be made accessible to the groups that need to access them. If security has not already been defined for this profile or it needs to be updated, do so: Define Access to Securable Objects.
  6. If you changed an attribute to be multi-language or to not be multi-language, the snapshot table must be rebuilt after you finish editing the profile.
