An attribute security filter controls access to a repository's attributes. The filters are created for a profile, then assigned to a user group to control how the group's users access a repository based on that profile. It is possible to assign an attribute security filter to a user instead of to a group, but it is strongly recommended that you assign it a group instead.

To create or edit an attribute security filter:

  1. Log into the Classic UI as an administrator.
  2. Open the Attribute Security Filters list by opening the Feature bar, opening Security Filters, and selecting Attribute Security Filters.
  3. Open the Attribute Security Filter editor:
    • To create a new attribute security filter, open the Action dropdown menu and select New.
    • To edit an existing attribute security filter, select the filter, open the Action dropdown menu and select Edit. The Attribute Security Filter editor will appear.
  4. If the attribute security filter is new, its basic configuration options will appear. Edit them.
    • Name: The name of the attribute security filter.
    • Profile: Select the profile.
  5. Click Next to move to the next page.
  6. The attributes for the profile will be listed in a collapsible group list. Assign permissions as desired:
    • Read Group: If checked, all group members can read the attribute.
    • Edit Group: If checked, all group members can edit the attribute
    • Owner Edit: This column only appears if one of the attributes has an owner. If this is checked, only the owner can edit this attribute.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Attribute security filters are securable objects and must be made accessible to the groups that need to access them. If security has not already been defined for this attribute security filter or it needs to be updated, do so: Define Access to Securable Objects.
