Channel readiness is a measure of how ready a channel is to be syndicated to its target. It indicates how many of the required record attribute values have reached a validation level sufficient to be syndicated to their target. The Channel Readiness feature can be accessed through the Channel Readiness tab and the Channel Readiness widget.
Configure Channel Readiness
The steps to perform the initial configuration of Channel Readiness are:
- Create a user group for users who will be able to access and use the Channel Readiness widget and the Channel Readiness tab.
- Add the users to the group.
- Ensure that the user group has the necessary permissions in the affected repositories.
- Add a Channel Readiness widget to the Channel Manager user group's Dashboard.
Open the Channel Readiness Tab
To open the Channel Readiness tab:
- Open the Channel Readiness tab by opening the Feature Sidebar, opening the Administration tab, opening the Channel Readiness folder, and selecting Inbound or Outbound. The Channel Readiness View tab will appear.
Update Channel Statistics
In order to update a Channel's statistics, the Channel must first be configured with a Saved Set and an Export Template. Channel configuration is performed by business administrators.
To update Channel Statistics:
- Open the Channel Readiness tab by opening the Feature Sidebar, opening the Administration tab, opening the Channel Readiness folder, and selecting Inbound or Outbound. The Channel Readiness View tab will appear.
- On the Channel Readiness View, update the Channel Statistics by clicking the Channel Information icon next to the Channel's name. If the Channel is inbound, the Inbound icon will appear to the left of the new Channel's name. If the Channel is outbound, the Outbound icon will appear to the right of the new Channel's name.
- A window will open that indicates the repository affected, the Saved Set of records to be validated, the Export Template to use, and the number of record attributes selected. Click the Update Statistics button to update the statistics and return to the Channel Readiness View.
- A Confirmation window will appear that asks if EnterWorks should start the Channel Analysis. Select Run to run the Channel Analysis and return to the .
- A Channel Analysis job will be created and placed in the Job Queue. To view the job's progress, open the Job Monitor from the Features Sidebar's System tab or open a Job Monitor Widget in the Dashboard.
- Upon completion of the Channel Analysis, the Channel Readiness tab must be refreshed to show the Channel Analysis Statistics. Close the Channel Readiness tab and reopen it to display the updated Channel Analysis Statistics.
Configure Scheduled Statistic Update
An EnterWorks system administrator can configure EnterWorks to automatically update the Channel Readiness as a scheduled activity. For more information, see: Schedule Channel Readiness Automatic Statistics Updates
Add a Channel
Channels are typically configured by system administrators, though they can be built by other permitted users.
Channels can only be built with repositories that have been defined as Pre-Staging, Staging or Production repositories.
To add a Channel:
- Open the Channel Readiness tab by opening the Feature Sidebar, opening the Administration tab, opening the Channel Readiness folder, and selecting Inbound or Outbound. The Channel Readiness View tab will appear.
- Select the Add button from the Channel Readiness View's activity bar. An empty Channel window will appear.
- Edit the Channel's options as desired:
Channel Name: Enter the name of the Channel to be defined. The Channel's name is a multi-language field. You can add values for the other languages your EnterWorks system is configured for. For more information, see Editing Multi-language Fields.
Repository dropdown: Select the desired repository. Once the Channel has been added, you cannot change the repository.
Select if the Channel will be Inbound or Outbound. Once the Channel has been added, you cannot change whether the Channel is inbound or outbound.
- Click Save to save the Channel and return to the Channel Readiness View. To exit the Add Channel window without creating a Channel, select the Channels button on the Channel Readiness View's activity bar.
- The Channel Readiness View should show the new Channel. It will have error messages that indicate the Channel has not been completely defined yet. To finish defining the Channel, edit the Channel.
Edit a Channel
In order to configure a Channel, you first need a Saved Set of the records you are going to syndicate and an export template for the Channel's repository. After a Channel has been edited, the Channel's statistics must be updated for the changes to take effect.
To edit a Channel:
- Open the Channel Readiness tab by opening the Feature Sidebar, opening the Administration tab, opening the Channel Readiness folder, and selecting Inbound or Outbound. The Channel Readiness View tab will appear.
- Select the Channel (it will be highlighted blue).
- Click the Edit button on the Channel Readiness View's activity bar. The Edit Channel window will appear.
- The Edit Channel window has several tabs. Select the relevant tabs to edit the
Channel options as desired. In order for the contents of a tab to be saved, they
must have been edited.
Channel Name tab: Enter the name of the Channel.
Saved Sets tab: Select the name of the Saved Set to use.
Export Template tab: The name of the Export Template to use.
Attributes tab: Select the record attribute values to be validated.
Validation Rules tab: Select the validation rules to apply to the selected attributes
Transmission Options tab: Select a transmission option in order for the Channel to be able to be syndicated.
- Sequence Number tab:
- After saving any changes, select the Channels button on the Channel Readiness activity bar to return to the Channel Readiness View.
- The Channel should be displayed with your updated information. If not, refresh the Channel Readiness tab after you update the Channel's Statistics.
- Update the Channel Statistics by clicking the Channel's Inbound icon or Outbound icon to open the Channel's summary information, then click the Update Statistics button.
- Refresh the Channel Readiness View by closing and reopening the Channel Readiness tab.
Delete a Channel
To delete a Channel:
- Open the Channel Readiness tab by opening the Feature Sidebar, opening the Administration tab, opening the Channel Readiness folder, and selecting Inbound or Outbound. The Channel Readiness View tab will appear.
- Select the Channel you want to delete and click the Delete button on the Channel Readiness tab's activity bar.
