In EPX, a user is an actual person who performs the work of an activity in a process flow for EPX. Using EPX, you can manage users locally or centrally. When an EPX instance is installed, users can be created locally within the EPX system. Alternatively, if an organization already has a centralized user management system that can be accessed through the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), EPX can be set up to point toward that system and automatically create users. EPX supports either approach, although only one can be used at any given time. The example presented in this chapter, UserGroupExample.java, demonstrate how to manage users and groups locally using the EPX public APIs. Specifically, this chapter discusses how to complete the following tasks:

  • Adding a user to EPX

  • Retrieving users from EPX

  • Updating a user in EPX

  • Deleting users from EPX

  • Adding a group to EPX

Note: The code samples below use the default “system” user and password. It is recommended that the user should run the sample script using their specific usernames and passwords.
