To add an activity to a process flow and set its properties:

  1. Click the Process Flow Modeler tab.

  2. To place an activity in a process flow:

  • First, click the activity’s button on the tool palette.

  • Then, click the spot on the canvas where you want to place the activity.

Note: To place multiple instances of the activity, simply click the canvas in each spot where you want to place an activity instance. You cannot place an activity on top of another activity.

  1. Double-click the activity icon, or right-click the activity icon and then click Properties in the shortcut menu.

  2. On the General tab, type a name for the activity in the Name box and a description (optional) in the Description box.

If you do not specify a name when you create the activity, EPX assigns a default name.

  1. Click the Details tab, and configure settings for the activity.

The selectable options on the Details tab differ depending on the type of activity. See a particular activity’s section in this guide for specific information on configuring its Details tab.

  1. If you are configuring a manual activity, click the Viewers tab and select a viewer to be used for work items at this activity.

  2. If the activity has an Expiration tab, and you want to enable expiration for the activity, then click the tab and set the expiration period. If, in the event that an activity expires, you want a particular action to be taken, then set this information as well.

  3. If the activity has a Settings tab, then click the tab and configure the special settings for the activity.

  4. Click OK to close the activity editor and save your work, and then continue adding activities to the process flow as needed.

  5. To connect these activities, add Transitions, Split Activities, and Join Activities as needed. Define the end of the process flow by placing an Ending Point Activity on the flow canvas and connecting the final activity to it with a Transition.
